July 5, 2012 by sarastexturecrafts

ImageThought to have originally been bred by the Vikings, the Gotland is a Northern Short Tailed Sheep, similar to Shetland and Icelandic breeds. They fleece is wonderfully lustrous and comes in a wide range of steely greys and silvers. The wool fibre is extremely warming and will spin and felt in to the most wonderful products, including slippers, jumpers and cushions.

Do make a note of the beautiful curls when you use this wonderful fleece, as it will make the most amazing texture!

Colour: NATURAL GREY with flecks of white and moorit (brown) shades. This varies from sheep to sheep.

Count: averages 50-56 Bradford (28-33 microns) but can be as fine as Merino in places.
